By December 21, 2016Blog Entry

Today is  winter solstice, also known as the shortest day and longest night in the year. It is the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Winter solstice is also know to be a very spiritually significant day.

Spend time with your family today, be aware of nature, notice the changes and reflect on what’s happened in the past year. Let go of the past, it’s time to embrace the future with your heart.

There is no right or wrong on how to celebrate winter solstice.  It’s a time of turning inward, going deep into the unknown place where you quieten your mind and connect and to your inner voice.  A deep meditation is wonderful to do today, make the solstice an evening ritual.

Turn off the lights when the sun sets and any other electronic devices.  Light many candles and spend the evening reflecting using the darkness to go inward so you can connect to your internal mind.  Meditate on being grateful for all the wonderful gifts in your life.  Set the intentions for the coming year and invite the light into your heart, make a promise to live joyfully in gratitude and love for 2017.
